The COVID-19 epidemic has changed everything, including moving. While many areas of business are at a stand-still, movers are on the go. Ontario has officially ruled that movers, warehousing and moving supply companies are essential services. As such, we can still be there to help you relocate!
Even though we’re still open for business, you might have some important questions: who’ll be handling your goods? Have they travelled recently or had any illnesses? As a customer welcoming movers into your home, these are all necessary for your mover to answer. Both parties can take measures that ensure the whole job gets completed with health and safety in mind!
How True North Movers Can Help You, Even In A Pandemic
You planned your move months ahead of time, so it would have been impossible for you or us to predict the situation in which we all find ourselves. Because we are an essential service, there’s no need to cancel, and you can rest assured knowing that we have adjusted our routine for everyone’s safety.
No matter what the reason for the move, it’s hard to delay or cancel once momentum has built up. In this scenario, your best bet is to take all the necessary precautions and ensure your mover is doing the same!
Before making plans, it’s important to note that self-storage facilities have not been declared essential businesses at this time.
What We Can All Do To Stay Safe
What can you do to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and flatten the curve? Start by greeting us with a friendly “hello!” instead of a handshake and from there, follow basic social distancing. We’ll be using gloves, face masks, and six-foot parameters at all times. Our team will have discussed your needs at a safe distance over the phone or via email, so once we’re there, the movers can get to work without spending too much time on logistics. Let us know beforehand what will be ready for moving so we can cut down contact.
If you can, have some soap, sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, and paper towels available for the moving team so they can stay clean. Consider having a dedicated washroom in which they can wash their hands. Keep a pen on-hand to sign any documents so you don’t have to use one from the moving team.
Before we come and after we leave, wipe down surfaces we may have touched, including doorknobs, taps, and railings, and wash your hands. Even if you and the movers use gloves and personal protective equipment, anyone who will be moving boxes should wipe the outside with an anti-bacterial wipe before picking it up; for packing, you don’t have to wipe the inside of the boxes.
As always, communication is key. Please keep in touch with us about delivery times as there may be a delay due to demand. Inform the moving crew as soon as possible if someone in your home is sick, was exposed to someone who has COVID-19, or has been in quarantine.
